Terms & Conditions

Please read these terms and conditions (these “ T&Cs ”) before entering the AWS DeepRacer Student League Contest (the “Contest”). By entering or otherwise participating in the Contest, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to be bound by these T&Cs. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.

  1. Organizer. The Contest is being organized by Amazon Internet Services Private Limited (“AWS”, “we”, “us” or “our”), having its registered address at Block E, 14th Floor, Unit Nos. 1401 to 1421 International Trade Tower, Nehru Place, New Delhi. AWS will be assisted by third parties in administering and marketing of this Contest. For questions regarding the Contest, please contact e2windia-support@amazon.com..
  2. Eligibility. The Contest is open to any student who is (a) aged 18 and above, and (b) legally resident with a valid address in India, and (c) enrolled in an academic institute in India, and (d) who is not an Excluded Individual. For purposes of these T&Cs, an “Excluded Individual” means an individual who is one or more of the following:
    • an employee of AWS or any other entity involved in the conduct (e.g. funding, judging or administration) of the Contest, or any of AWS’s or such other entity’s affiliates;
    • an employee of any government organization; or
    • an immediate family member (i.e. a spouse, domestic partner, parent, grandparent, sibling, child or grandchild) or an individual living in the same household as an individual identified in point (1) above.
    By participating in the Contest, you warrant that you meet the criteria in this Section. 
  3. How to enter.
    • All prospective candidates shall register on the event landing page (https://awsdeepracerleague.in/). You may enter the Contest at any time during the period starting at 15:00:01 (Indian Standard Time) on 06th June and ending at 23:59:59 (Indian Standard Time) on 15th July (the “Entry Period”). Once the registrations are closed, an email is sent to all the eligible registered candidates containing details to sign up for AWS Educate and AWS DeepRacer Students’ platform. The registered candidates will be recommended to complete the AWS Educate DeepRacer primer badge on AWS Educate and consume the learning content available on AWS DeepRacer Students’ platform. In order to participate in the preliminary race, the registered student would have to participate in the August championship race hosted in the DeepRacer for student platform. We will not consider any lost, late, misdirected, incomplete, illegible or unintelligible registrations. Our servers and clock shall be deemed the official clock for all phases of the Contest, and your proof of a submission does not constitute proof of receipt by us. We will not be responsible for any technical or human error in any materials associated with the Contest, or in the processing of any registrations. 
  4. Warranties. You represent and warrant that you are permitted by law to participate in the Contest.
  5. Disqualification. We reserve the right to disqualify you if we determine in our sole discretion that you do not meet the requirements set forth in these T&Cs or are found to be tampering with the operation of the Contest, or to be acting in an unsportsmanlike manner or with the intent to disrupt the normal operation of the Contest.
  6. Personal Information. The following personal information will be collected by AWS for the Contest solely for the purposes of administering the Contest and verifying participant eligibility: (a) First Name, (b) Last name, (c) Email ID, (d) Institute Name, (e) State, (f) Zip Code.  Failure to provide all necessary personal information may result in participants’ participation in the Contest being deemed ineligible. AWS handles your information in accordance with the AWS Privacy Notice. By participating in this Contest, each entrant consents to the collection, use and disclosure of his or her personal information as set out in the above privacy notice.    
  7. Contest Rules. The Contest will comprise of multiple rounds, details of which shall be available on https://awsdeepracerleague.in/. In addition to these T&Cs, the rules for each race will be communicated to the participants via email.    
  8.  Selection of Winners. Based on the race performance, the participants will be ranked on a leaderboard in top to bottom manner, with best performing model at the top. The winners will be selected based on the position in the leaderboard queue. A winners list will be available at https://awsdeepracerleague.in/ for up to a year after the contest is ended. Failure to provide the requested information or to respond to communications about the Contest within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the AWS in its sole discretion, may result in the forfeiture of the prize.  
  9. Prizes.
    1. Prizes will be distributed to the winners by AWS virtually.1 Each entrant may win a maximum of 1 of each price type. The prizes are as follows:

      1. Digital participation Certificate recognizing them as a semi-finalist.
      2. Certificate of participation will be awarded to all students who participate in the preliminary race.    

    3. Further details on the prizes are available on this link - https://awsdeepracerleague.in/. We may deduct or withhold any taxes that we may be legally obligated to deduct or withhold from the value of prizes given. Each winner may be required to submit to AWS his/her tax filing information required by us in order to claim the prize. Each winner will be responsible for paying all taxes and any other expenses that might reasonably be incurred by the winner in receiving or using the prize.
    4. By accepting the prize, you confirm that
      • your receipt is neither prohibited nor inconsistent with any applicable laws, regulations, or binding orders, including applicable ethics or procurement rules, and,
      • your receipt will not create a conflict of interest for AWS, and there are no ongoing competitive procurements for which your receipt of this benefit could conflict with AWS's execution of the Contest.
      By participating in this Contest, each entrant hereby grants AWS and the Contest organizers, right and permission to use the entrant’s name, biographical information, photo, testimonials, interviews, or likenesses, and their city, state or province, and country, and any other information and content provided in connection with the Contest for any disclosures required by law, and for advertising and promotional purposes relating to the Contest (including preparing a list of winners) in any and all media now or hereafter devised, worldwide in perpetuity (or to the maximum extent permissible under applicable law), without additional compensation, notification or permission, unless prohibited by law.
    5. An entrant is not deemed a winner of any prize, unless and until (i) the entrant’s eligibility has been verified, (ii) all requirements determined by AWS in order to claim his/her prize have been fulfilled and (iii) the entrant has been notified that the acceptance and verification process is complete. Potential winners must continue to comply with the T&Cs and winning is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements. Potential winners are subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with these T&Cs and/or applicable law. Failure to provide all required information and complete all of the other required activities within the stated time period may result in forfeiture of winner’s right to claim a prize, and in the case of First Prize winners, may result in the prize being awarded to an alternate winner, if time permits. If a prize is unclaimed, unredeemed or any portion thereof returned as undeliverable, it will be forfeited. Un-awarded prizes will remain the property of AWS. If, after a good-faith attempt, Sponsor is unable to award or deliver a prize, that prize will not be re-awarded. Additional terms and conditions may be imposed by AWS, its affiliates or third parties with regard to the receipt or use of a prize.
  10. Warranty Disclaimers. ALL PRIZES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS.” TO THE EXTENT PERMISSIBLE BY APPLICABLE LAW, AWS, ITS AFFILIATES AND ITS LICENSORS MAKE NO OTHER REPRESENTATIONS OR WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY OR OTHERWISE, REGARDING THE PRIZES OR ANY MATERIALS OR INFORMATION PROVIDED BY A THIRD PARTY IN CONNECTION WITH THE PRIZES (“THIRD-PARTY CONTENT”), AND DISCLAIM ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED OR EXPRESS WARRANTIES (A) OF MERCHANTABILITY, SATISFACTORY QUALITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR QUIET ENJOYMENT, (B) ARISING OUT OF ANY COURSE OF DEALING OR USAGE OF TRADE, AND (C) THAT THE PRIZES OR THIRD-PARTY CONTENT WILL BE FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

  11. Liability. By participating in this Contest, entrants agree that AWS and each of their respective affiliates, subsidiaries, representatives, consultants, contractors, legal counsel, advertising, public relations, promotional, fulfilment and marketing agencies, website providers and each of their respective officers, directors, stockholders, employees, representatives, designees and agents (the “Released Parties”) are, to the extent permitted by law, not responsible for: (I) lost, late, incomplete, stolen, misdirected, undeliverable e-mail notifications, or postal mail; (ii) any computer, satellite, cable, network, electronic or Internet hardware or software malfunctions, failures, connections, or availability; (iii) garbled, corrupt or jumbled transmissions, service provider/Internet/website/UseNet accessibility, availability or traffic congestion; (iv) any technical, mechanical, printing or typographical or other error; (v) the incorrect or inaccurate capture of registration information or the failure to capture, or loss of, any such information; (vi) any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, technical error, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to the Contest; (vii) any injury or damage, whether personal or property (including any injury related to participating in a race, or any COVID-19 related illness), to entrants or to any person's computer related to or resulting from participating in the Contest and/or accepting or using a prize, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law; (viii) entries that are late, forged, lost, misplaced, misdirected, tampered with, incomplete, deleted, damaged, or otherwise not in compliance with the T&Cs; and (ix) for any loss (including, without limitation, indirect, special or consequential loss or loss of profits), expense or damage which is suffered or sustained (whether or not arising from any person’s negligence) in connection with this Contest or accepting or using a prize, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law. AWS is not responsible for any undelivered messages or e-mails, including without limitation, e-mails that are not received because of an entrant’s privacy or spam filter settings that may divert any winner notification or other Contest related e-mail to a spam or junk folder. By entering the Contest, each entrant agrees: (i) to be bound by these T&Cs, (ii) to waive any rights to claim ambiguity with respect to these T&Cs; (iii) to the extent permitted by law, to waive all of their rights to bring any claim, action or proceeding against any of the Released Parties in connection with the Contest; and (iv) to the extent permitted by law, to forever and irrevocably agree to release and hold harmless each of the Released Parties from any and all claims, lawsuits, judgments, causes of action, proceedings, demands, fines, penalties, liability, costs and expenses (including, without limitation, reasonable attorneys’ fees) that may arise in connection with: (a) the Contest, including, but not limited to, any Contest-related activity or element thereof, participation or inability to participate in the Contest; (b) the violation of any third-party privacy, personal, publicity or proprietary rights; (c) acceptance, attendance at, receipt, travel related to, participation in, delivery of, possession, defects in, use, non-use, misuse, inability to use, loss, damage, destruction, negligence or wilful misconduct in connection with the use of a prize (or any component thereof); (d) any change in the Contest or prizing (or any components thereof); (e) human error; (f) any wrongful, negligent, or unauthorized act or omission on the part of any of the Released Parties; (g) lost, late, stolen, misdirected, damaged or destroyed prizing (or any element thereof); or (h) the negligence or wilful misconduct by entrant. WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, THE AGGREGATE LIABILITY OF AWS AND ITS AFFILIATES’ AND LICENSORS’ WILL NOT EXCEED INR 1000.
  12. Nature of Relationship. Each entrant understands and acknowledges that AWS (and the Contest organizers) have wide access to ideas, stories, designs, and other literary materials, and that new ideas are constantly being submitted to it or being developed by their own employees. Each entrant also acknowledges that many ideas may be competitive with, similar or identical to the Reinforcement Learning Model and/or each other in theme, idea, plot, format, or other respects. Each entrant acknowledges and agrees that such entrant will not be entitled to any compensation as a result of any use of any such similar or identical material by AWS (and the Contest organizers). To the extent permissible by law, each entrant acknowledges and agrees that AWS does not now and shall not have in the future any duty or liability, direct or indirect, vicarious, contributory, or otherwise, with respect to the infringement or protection of the copyright in and to the Reinforcement Learning Model.
  13. Intellectual Property. For good and valuable consideration, the receipt and legal sufficiency of which is hereby acknowledged, each entrant hereby irrevocably grants to AWS, and its successors and assigns, a non-exclusive license (but not the obligation) to reproduce, publicly perform, stream, exploit, make derivative works of and otherwise use each entrant’s Reinforcement Learning Model, in whole or in part, in the Contest and in connection with the marketing, advertising and promotion of the Contest in perpetuity, by means of any and all media and devices whether now known or hereafter devised. AWS shall have the right to freely assign its rights hereunder, in whole or in part, to any person or entity. In addition to the fullest extent allowable under any applicable law, each entrant hereby irrevocably waives or assigns to AWS, entrant’s moral rights. AWS shall retain the rights granted in each Reinforcement Learning Model even if the Reinforcement Learning Model is disqualified or even it if it determined that the entrant who made the Reinforcement Learning Model is ineligible to enter the Contest.
  14. Miscellaneous. All entries must be made by a natural person. Any attempted form of participation in this Contest other than as described herein is void and will result in disqualification, and if such person is selected as a potential winner, revocation of their prize. AWS reserves the right to cancel or modify the Contest at any time and for any reason. In the event of a dispute as to the identity of an entrant and/or winner, the entry/prize claim will be declared made by the primary account holder of the e-mail account associated with the e-mail account used to enter the Contest. Potential winners may be required to show proof of being the primary account holder. The “primary account holder” is the natural person listed as the primary owner of the e-mail address by an e-mail service provided. AWS (or its representatives and other Contest organizers) are not responsible for any change of e-mail address, mailing address and/or telephone number and it is solely the responsibility of the entrant to notify the AWS in writing, if the entrant changes their e-mail address, mailing address and/or telephone number during the Entry Period. Failure of AWS to enforce any term of these T&Cs shall not constitute a waiver of that provision and such provision shall remain in full force and effect. In the event of any conflict with any Contest details contained in these T&Cs and the Contest details contained in any Contest promotional materials (including, but not limited to, point of sale, advertising, or any other promotional media), the details of the Contest as set forth in these T&Cs shall prevail. AWS may modify any aspect of the Contest, including these T&Cs, at their sole discretion. We and our affiliates will not be liable for any delay or failure to perform any obligation where the delay or failure results from any cause beyond our reasonable control, including acts of God, labor disputes or other industrial disturbances, systemic electrical, telecommunications, or other utility failures, earthquake, storms or other elements of nature, blockages, embargoes, riots, acts or orders of government, health crisis, epidemics, pandemics, acts of terrorism, or war. The laws of India, without reference to conflict of law rules, govern these T&Cs and any dispute relating to the Contest that might arise between the parties. Unless otherwise agreed by the parties, any dispute arising out of or relating to these T&Cs or the Contest will be resolved by a sole arbitrator appointed by AWS, and judgment on the arbitral award may be entered in the courts of Delhi, India. The arbitration will take place in Delhi, India. The fees and expenses of the arbitrators and the administering authority, if any, will be paid in equal proportion by the parties. The arbitration proceedings will be conducted in English.
